Library General Rules:

  • The member shall have to follow the UOG Libraries Rules and Regulations-2016 and all other policies or instructions notified by the UOG.
  • UOG ID cards shall be displayed by the library member while entering in the library.
  • It is essential to bring UOG I.D. Card for borrowing books. The member will be responsible for any book borrowed on his/her Card.
  • Members must inform the library of any change in their phone number(s), I.D. No or email addresses.
  • Eating, drinking, gossiping, shouting, sleeping, smoking, mobile discussions and any action that may cause disturbance or damage to the library material shall not be tolerated in any case.
  • Students must maintain absolute silence inside the library premises. Group discussions and lecturing in loud voice are not allowed in reading halls.
  • Mobile phone is allowed but it must be in silent mode and member will not attend his/her call inside the library. However, SMS is permitted as long as it does not disturb other Library users.
  • Students are advised not to write on, tear off, or deface library material (books, furniture etc.) by ballpoint, marker, pen, pencil knife etc. Moreover, Library staff can inspect any in use library material at any time.
  • Damage of any library material shall be quantified by the Librarian concerned and the member shall have to pay the same through bank.
  • In case of loss of any library material, the member shall have to provide the same from the market along with PKR100/= (one hundred) as library processing fee or shall have to pay two times of the current price of the lost material. In case the price is other than Pak Rupees the current exchange currency rate shall be determined by the librarian concerned.
  • If the book of multivolume set is damaged or lost, the member concerned shall have to replace the whole set or pay the cost of the entire set along with PKR 100/= (one hundred) per book as library processing fee.
  • The price of “rare material” shall be determined by the Chief Librarian.
  • The chief librarian is authorized to withhold any library material for any reason. Moreover, concerned librarian may recall any borrowed library material any time from any member, without explaining any reason.
  • The borrowed library material can be renewed twice in a row. If not reserved by any other member.
  • Reference material like Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Journals, Periodicals, Newspapers, Audio-Visual material or any costly library material defined by the Chief Librarian shall not be issued; however, may be used within the library premises.
  • The displaying or distribution of promotional materials, notices, posters, leaflets and similar by anyone is forbidden without the prior written permission.
  • Students are not allowed to turn on/off Electric and IT equipment and they are also not allowed to change the arrangement of Furniture & Fixtures in the library.
  • CCTV cameras are installed in the libraries for official use only and it is not the prerogative of anyone to demand access of these cameras, however, in serious cases an application may be submitted to the chief librarian for help.
  • The library defaulter will be reminded through email/sms/phone call about his/her overdue material. In case of noncompliance, the name of the defaulter will be displayed at library notice board/website and the same will be forwarded to the department concerned. At the end of each semester, the name of the defaulter will be forwarded to the controller of examinations office to withhold his/her result.
  • The library security fee of student who does not get clearance from UOG library(s) and leave the University, for any reason, will be deducted in lieu of student library fine, if any.
